Janan holds a PhD in Chemistry from Northwestern University, working in Mark Hersam's research laboratory prior to joining Volexion as a Battery Materials Scientist in late 2025. His research focused on sustainable alternatives for producing graphene via lithium-ion battery recycling or conversion of bio-derived cellulosic materials. Coming directly from the Hersam group, he has vast experience in 2D materials characterization and has explored applications ranging from sensors to battery coatings and additives. He also earned his B.A. in Chemistry from Swarthmore College in 2020. In his free time, he loves to travel, explore local restaurants, play basketball, and is an avid video gamer.
